I would be delighted to send you a promotional code to listen to a FREE copy of my audiobook "Employing Care Staff in Your Home" (2 hours 2 minutes). Please contact me on LinkedIn.I have worked in HR for a long time and have been supporting Deputies' Teams, Case Managers and families with their HR. My introduction to case management was in 2012 when a company Googled and contacted me to do some work for them. They introduced me to another company, and then an independent case manager found me. Through recommendations, Embrace HR then took it's own path into this sector. Over the years I have seen that employment issues in a family home are the same as in any business. They can be more intense because of the close proximity between family, client and workers. Professional and personal boundaries are often crossed simply because of the relationships that are formed. My passion is to share HR knowledge so families better understand the obligations to employees, and that processes are implemented to guide workers too. The bottom line is that funds that should be for the client's needs are not diverted to employment issues that can take up time, cost much and cause unhappiness. The knowledge I share is through Deputies' Teams, Case Managers, or direct with families with whom we work. Before setting up Embrace HR in 2009, I was an HR Manager for a Health and Safety Consultancy who provided services to very large organisations, including the 2012 Olympic Games venues. And before that I was a Minister's Private Secretary – a story in itself.I am married and have two children. My son is married and has one son – our grandson is a blessing to us. Our daughter works for Nobel Prizes and lived in Stockholm for five years before asking if she could work remotely from the UK – which is where she is now based. My immediate family was 7 siblings, or whom only 4 of us remain today. We were scattered throughout the world in different countries – Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mocambique, Perth WA, Florida USA and I am in the UK. In 2022 five of us came together in Zimbabwe under one roof after 41 years. It was my dream come true and a fabulous holiday and reunion. Despite being thousands of miles apart, we have always had close family ties.I dipped my toe into the author's world and wrote a book closely related to my work – Employing Care Staff in Your Home. It is my way of passing on the knowledge to my clients who employ directly. Writing was a great experience, that needed much work, and lots of support. I found a team willing to help me and I intend to continue writing when I have time. One of the Deputies Teams I work with encouraged me, as an HR professional in this sector, to join the Forum. I have not been active but this year will take a look at what is happening in this space.I hope that I will meet some of you virtually or 'in real life'!
